About the Course

The Active Shooter/Threat Response training combined with Reflex Protect training provides participants knowledge and skills for before, during and after an active threat to increase survivability based on the Escape-Deny-Defend Triangle. It includes the Reflex Protect training to certify participants in the use of Reflex Protect which is incorporated into the Defend portion of the active threat response.

Training Topics

We begin with approximately 2 hours of detailed classroom knowledge, background and strategy, then transition to 2 hours of hands-on training in topics like:


  • Active shooter response triangle
  • Gun-disarms
  • Barricading techniques
  • Dealing with knife attacks
  • Ambush techniques
  • Working as a team

  • Understanding the difference between cover and concealment
  • Disaster response psychology
  • Combat breathing
  • How to develop a survivor's mindset

Institutions are expected to purchase adequate Practice Training Units for both of the above training options. These will be used during the “How to use Reflex Protect” portion
of the trainings.

Become a Reflex Protect Trainer

Implement resident trainers within your organization for new or additional employees to be trained under a resident trainer, as opposed to bringing a Reflex Protect Trainer into your organization multiple times.

This optional training enables your designated trainer receives a four-year training certificate and access to additional on-line resources after the live training. Please discuss this option with a Reflex Protect Trainer or Representative.
